Final information for your Shenandoah Adventure

It is almost time for the Shenandoah Adventure weekend. We are very excited and have been working hard to make sure you have the best adventure experience possible. Please refer to your specific race web page for schedules and race information:

Now that registration is closed, and we are no longer able to make team changes. Any changes must be made on race morning.

Please make sure you re-read all the race information on the web page. Please note the following for the specified races:

Epic

  • Transition area information has been updated to provide some additional information that will help you pack.

Tenderfoot

  • Bike drop location information has not changed but we’d like to reiterate it here: Between 8 and 9 am Sunday morning, before you come to Downriver Canoe Company to pick up your packet and start the race, you must drop your bikes at the boat take out in Shenandoah River State Park (350 Daughter of Stars Dr, Bentonville, VA 22610). When you enter the park, tell the ranger at the booth that you are here for the Rev3 Adventure race and you are doing the bike drop, you won’t have to pay the entry fee. Drive all the way to the T-junction at the bottom of the hill and take a left. You will see the bike drop area on the right. After dropping your bikes, head back out of the park, take a right onto 340, drive through Bentonville, take a right onto Indian Hollow Road, and head down the road to Downriver Canoe Company, where packet pickup and the race start will be held. Again, you need to drop bikes between 8am and 9am. Leave your helmet and everything you need while biking with your bikes.

All the information you need to complete the race will be in your race packets (given to you at check-in on race day) and will be covered during the pre-race brief.

It looks like we will be treated to great weather conditions! Saturday is forecast to be mostly sunny and 67 degrees, with a low around 47 degrees. Sunday is sunny and 74 degrees. Please plan accordingly.

Remember to pack sunscreen, lip balm, and sunglasses. Dress in layers; it will be cool at times. The river is still cold (50 degrees), so if you end up taking a swim (and some of you will), make sure you have a change of clothes (including shoes) and a towel.

River conditions look good. Levels are lower than normal so expect longer paddle times than in previous years.

We have seen a few ticks while setting the course. Make sure you wear insect repellent, especially around your ankles.

As a heads up, once you pass Front Royal, AT&T and Sprint seem to be the only cellular services that work.

Parking Everyone will be parking at Downriver Canoe Company (884 Indian Hollow Road, Bentonville), but read below for specific locations according to your event. Please watch your speed and follow parking directions. We have races going on all weekend, so participants will be in and around that area as you come and go.

Epic: You will be parking on the left-hand side of the road opposite Downriver Canoe Company. This lot will also act as your transition area.

Aqua Blaze, Strong, & Tenderfoot: You will be parking at Downriver Canoe Company in the large field next to the main finish area.

Packet Pickup for Strong, AquaBlaze, and Tenderfoot You have the option of picking up your packet early on Friday, April 15, upstairs in the clubhouse at Skyline Ranch Resort (751 Mountain Rd., Front Royal, VA 22630) between 5:00 pm and 7:30 pm. Otherwise, Saturday morning before the race you will need to pick up your race packet at Downriver Canoe Company/the starting area. Tenderfoot racers will pick up their packets on Sunday morning at Downriver Canoe Company. At packet pickup:

  1. Everyone must complete a Rev3 Adventure waiver and a USARA waiver. You cannot get your packet without signed waivers. If you completed a Rev3 Adventure waiver online, you do not need to fill one out at packet pickup. You can download the Rev3 Adventure waiver here.

  2. Everyone will need to complete a USARA waiver. You can download the waiver here. If you do not have a USARA membership or have not paid for the USARA one-day license online, you will need to do so at packet pickup. For family teams, only racers 16 and older are required to buy the license for $8, but everyone will need to complete a USARA waiver.

  3. Pick up your race packet from the registration table. You will not get your map until you check in with timing and clear your ePunch.

  4. Pick up your T-shirt.

  5. Once you have your packet, check in with the timing tent. We will need to clear your ePunch, do a final check in, and give you your maps.

  6. Strong racers stage their gear in the transition area. This will include anything you will need for the biking leg of the race including bike, helmet, bike shoes, extra food, and water.

  7. Attend the pre-race brief.

  8. Get ready to race!

Packet Pickup for Epic Epic 26-hour racers, we will see you on Friday night upstairs in the clubhouse at Skyline Ranch Resort (751 Mountain Rd., Front Royal, VA 22630) between 5:00 pm and 7:30 pm for packet pickup and then the pre-race brief at 7:30 pm. You must have all forms for all your team members before we will give you your race packet. You can download all required forms from the race web page. Dinner will be available for purchase from the on-site restaurant (see menu), and you’ll have plenty of room in the clubhouse to eat, look over your maps, and strategize before the pre-race brief.

Don’t forget we will have a donation box for the Warren County Backpack Program at packet pickup. Your generous donations of kid-friendly, easy-to-prepare foods, such as canned ravioli, single-serve mac & cheese, applesauce, etc., are very much appreciated.
