Choose your distance (10K, 5K, or 1-mile), round up your best running buddies, and explore Leopold's Preserve on a beautiful fall evening at this 6th annual, pet friendly trail run! As always, the run is at twilight and includes a mini-family-festival complete with games, a face painter, a balloon sculpturist, a photo booth, local vendors, and much more for families.

The race courses use the fabulous trails of Leopold's Preserve in Haymarket, Va, through forest, plains, bridges and rolling hills, with tons of great views and wildlife along the way. The start/finish is the trailhead in the Villages of Piedmont community (at the end of Market Ridge Blvd.).

·         All participants will receive a race t-shirt (guaranteed for anyone who registers on or before Oct. 10, 2019)

·         Refreshments available at the finish line to all participants

·         Top positions in each 5K and 10K category receive a medal

Race proceeds will benefit Friends of Homeless Animals (FOHA), another great local charity that focuses on the rescue and placement of homeless dogs and cats in the Northern Virginia and Washington DC area. FOHA relies on the support of volunteers and donations from the public to continue rescue efforts.

Timing, Categories, & Awards

The 10K and 5K races will be timed using a BibChip system. The 1 mile is not timed. There are no course time limits or cut offs.

Categories are 5K and 10K 1st, 2nd, & 3rd Male and Female in the following age groups: 9 and under / 10-14 / 15-18 / 19-29 / 30-39 / 40-49 / 50-59 / 60 and up. We do not ship awards.

We don't want to hold you up after you cross the finish line, so we will have a rolling awards ceremony (starting about 20 minutes after the first finisher crosses). Once you have crossed the finish line, stop by the timing booth, where you can print out a slip of your time and placement. If you placed 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in your category, swing by the awards table with your slip. We'll hand you your award , and you'll be able to take pictures on the podium if you like.
